“The Equestrian”

The bond between a horse and rider is a very strong one. The horse is a thousand pounds of pure muscle trained to follow the rider’s commands. The rider must know everything about this horse in order to tame it, ride it and command it.

This rider is one of many who are trained by the generation that came before. They are trained in hopes to keep the tradition of The American Rodeo alive. Since the days of the old west, cattle ranchers would come together to demonstrate the skills that are used on a daily basis. Mixing what have become professional athletes and showmen, the tradition continues to this day.

The Rodeo competition is not just a weekend game. The rodeo lifestyle encompasses our entire world. It molds us, it teaches us to be discipline, to care for the animals involved and hone our skills. Rodeo gets inside of us and becomes who we are. We can’t deny it.

As she prepares her horse for competition, this young competitor is deep in thought. She knows what she has to do today. She has trained and she is ready. She is moments away from taking another step in keeping the tradition of rodeo alive. She is The Equestrian.
