“Airborne”

Though I am a Landscape Photographer, sometimes I like to venture out and try new things. We have always had snow as a kid. There was never a year it didn’t snow. When I began studying photography in 2019, I couldn’t WAIT for snow photos! The snow never came. Here we are in 2021 and it’s snowing again! While other people are hating on it, I’m rubbing my hands together with my camera gear on my back saying “alright! let’s see what we’ve got here”!
I used to LOVE to go sledding when I was younger. I’d say when I was a kid, but let's face it, I’m STILL a kid I'm just older and my toys got more expensive. I've since past this love on to my daughter. Whenever it snows, she races downstairs and begs to go to Suicide Hill. I now look at Suicide Hill with a different set of eyes than she does. She sees it as a day of thrill-seeking sledding. I, on the other hand, see it as the opportunity to shoot new styles. On this particular day, I got very lucky!
This sled had been going up and down the hill a thousand times all day. Then, at just the right moment, they hit one of the camel backs and took air! When I realized that I had gotten this shot, I was so excited. I wanted to be sure that the kids on the sled got to see the photo when I was finished editing it. I went to talk to them and that's when I realized what had happened. The impact from this flight had snaped the sled into two pieces. They tried to fix it enough to try it a few more times but, in the end, it left the sled rendered useless. They wound up having to replace it. I'm not sure what this kid's real name is, but to me he will forever be known as Airborne!
