“Feeling Small”

At the time that this obelisk was built, it stood tall and proud in remembrance of the person buried there. Many years later, the cemetery was abandoned and Mother Nature took over. I'm sure it feels small in comparison to the large trees that grew around it. It has been said that comparison is the thief of joy. How true it is.

We scroll through social media and compare the lives we think these people are living to our own life and get depressed that we are not doing what we see them doing. Here's a little secret: no one posts the bad stuff, the tough times they are going through or the struggles they have overcome in order to post the great stuff.

We all go through it. It may be difficult, but we need to shut the outside world out. We have to be proud of what we have done and know that it ain't over. We still have a lot of time to do more.

As we stroll through cemeteries and graveyards (yes, there is a difference), looking at all these grave markers marveling at the stories they tell, it makes us think. What story do WE want to tell. We are writing that story every day in everything we do, every failure, every lesson learned and most importantly, every accomplishment.

The trees can be cut down. The obelisk never will!
