“All Roads Lead Home”

From our first moments on earth, we are introduced to a place that is filled with unconditional love and support. A place that makes us feel warm inside. We call that place Home. Our home becomes our world.

As a kid, we have very little that we can change about that household. Make no mistakes, it does change because we are now a part of it. We fill that world with laughter. We fill that home with our toys. We fill that world with joy by just being a part of it. Sometimes, we throw temper tantrums and break things, like a treasured hourglass, but it still changes that world.

As we grow, our toys become more expensive and take up more room in our house. The older we get, the more say we have. We shape our dwelling to make us feel cozy. The laws within that home differ from the laws outside that home. It's sometimes a harsh lesson we learn when facing the outside world.

When the time comes to leave the nest, we create a new one, all our own. Sometimes, that means going away to college, sometimes that means getting a new apartment. Try as one might, that home never quite seems the same as the one we are used to. So, we do our best to make it come as close as possible and, in time, we forget how different it is. That new environment can be a scary place. It can make us feel unworthy, unwanted and alone.

That is just an illusion. The truth is that no matter how scary the world is, how unwanted we feel, or how alone we think we are, there is always a place where people look forward to seeing us. People who know that we are invaluable. A place where we are never alone (even if we want to be).

There are all kinds of roads we take to get where we are going in life. There is a road to wisdom, the road to knowledge, the road to possibilities, the road to opportunity and the road to success. If we change our perspective and simply turn around, All Roads Lead Home.
