“Gateway 26”

As a kid growing up in Philadelphia, Wildwood, NJ was THEE vacation spot. Everyone you knew all vacationed there. The beaches are fun, the hotel pool was a favorite hangout but the star of the show was The Wildwood Boardwalk.

You'd start at one end of the boardwalk and do all the ride piers first. Then when you were a bit worn out and heading home, you'd hit the games side of the boardwalk.

Now, its almost the end of the night. You’ve had the perfect day. Some beach in the morning, an afternoon at the pool, dinner at a favorite eatery followed by the energy-draining rides and games of the boardwalk. The perfect end to the perfect day is getting soft serve ice cream at Kohr Bro.

As you are walking the boardwalk and hearing the comforting sounds of the ocean waves crashing, carnival music, and my favorite "WA...WAT...WWATCH THE TRAMCAR PLEASE", you always knew you were at the halfway point of the boards when hit the Gateway 26 sign.

As far back as I can remember, this sign has been the meeting place for our family to head back to the hotel to end the night.
