“Lazing On The Farm”
Every day we rush around without any real thought behind what it is we are doing. We are so set in our routine that our bodies go into autopilot while we become a mindless zombie. That’s the world we live in. Everything needs to be done yesterday and if you can’t multi-task, then no one is interested in you. The rise in multi-tasking over the last 56 years has led society to have such short attention spans that we sometimes find it hard to hold a face-to-face conversation without checking our phones every 30 seconds.
When was the last time we had a chance to just laze? Not sitting and watching TV, but really just sit and watch as the world goes by. Whenever we drove past my grandparent's house, there was Pop, just sitting on the porch watching as cars drove by, just enjoying being there. He was enjoying everything around him, taking it all in. He was alone with his thoughts. I tend to find that when I am forced to be alone with my thoughts, I come up with some of the better ideas. Some of them may be crazy and unrealistic, but some are logical and plausible.
Spend some time this week just to just be. Enjoy the sights, the sounds, the smells, and observe what is going on around you. It doesn’t have to be a lot of time. I bet you come away with a clear head filled with new ideas.
