“Last Stop To Paradise”

Built around 1755 just two miles from the village of Paradise, PA, The Old Lecock Church remains essentially untouched after 245 years. Holidays and special occasions are still celebrated here, but regular church services have moved to a new campus.

People have been buried here for 273 years. Beginning in 1747 with Lawrence Slaymaker. Not much is known about Lawrence, but his older brother, Henry Slaymaker was a judge during the Revolutionary War and often ran British sympathizers out of Lancaster County. The last known burial here was as late as December 2019. Walking through this graveyard seems like traveling through a time machine, making stops in just about each generation.
