“USS New Jersey”

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

Pearl Harbor was a devastating blow for this country. My grandfather was a Civilian Shipfitter. In 1942, he went and raised those ships to put them back in commission. I grew up with his stories. Pearl Harbor holds a special place in my heart. Although the USS New Jersey was not in Pearl Harbor at the time, they had already begun building her at the time of the attack. Pearl Harbor sped up the building process. This is a day that should never be forgotten. Although this was a disaster, it united the country with one common enemy.
