Ok I have to admit that I am a big fan of music and movies. I have used both to teach me things about the aspects of life from time to time. In Terminator 2, John Conner asks The Terminator if we as humans are going survive in the future, The Terminator responds simply with “It's in your nature to destroy yourselves.”
Living in a big city, murder is a part of our every-day life. Whether it is witnessed first-hand or talked about on the local news. It is in our every-day life in one way or another. The bigger the city, the more it is ingrained.
Paul Sanchez is a singer/songwriter from New Orleans. He was walking along the streets one day with another singer/songwriter friend John Boutté when they ended up at a cemetery at the end of Canal Street. As Paul told the story, he is the whitest guy he knows and John is small black creole man. To an outsider they would have absolutely nothing in common. As they were talking, they both realized that both of their fathers were buried in that same cemetery. Then John said “Black or white, we all gonna wind up at The Foot Of Canal Street”. It inspired them to write a song about the experience.
In life, we have to embrace the each other’s uniqueness. It does not matter where you come from, we are all the same. Our journeys may be different but our beginning and our end is the same. We need to remember that and treat everyone we meet on our daily path with respect. If we all did that, imagine what our world would look like.
